Projects
Poe is currently:
-
Working on a dissertation on gay, lesbian, and feminist communal song in the 1970s and 1980s. For this project, I am examining the relationships between the women's music movement, the smaller men's music movement, and the feminist, gay, and lesbian choral movements in the U.S through the framework of separatism and coalition-building.
-
Editing an issue of Sinister Wisdom on the women's music movement as part of a guest editorial team.
-
As a Lost and Found Archival Research Fellow, Poe is preparing a chapbook on Lou Sullivan, gender, sexuality, and disability using unpublished diary entries, letters, and other archival materials.
-
Working on a book project that takes a transfeminist approach to the women's music movement, through archival work and conversations with trans musicians. Poe is indebted to his time at the archives as part of the New England Regional Fellowship Consortium (2023-2024) and as the 2024 recipient of Michigan State University's Lesbian Legacies Endowed Research Fellowship.
